I feel like I have lost track of the days completely...doing the same thing over and over again can get quite monotonous and in all honesty, I am sick of the sight of fish fingers!
That's right, since my dissertation submission last week I have been focusing on the production of my FMP animation, 'Monday's Special: The Untapped Goldmine' - which requires a lot of fish finger drawings. At this point, I am halfway through the rough animation stage and my next step is to clean up all of the scenes and add lots of bold colour!
As well as spending many hours of each day animating, I have also been doing some personal work to help me develop my illustrative skills and build up my portfolio.
Over the last week, I have been taking part in some 'draw this in your style' challenges on Instagram. The idea of this challenge is to recreate a piece of art done by another artist and to do it in your personal style.
I completed two of these challenges this week, my first entry was in response to work by the artist Domonkos Erhardt (@erhardt.domonkos). I decided that I wanted to have a go at recreating Erhardt's piece as I felt I could add personality to the subject and turn it into more of a story within the picture. My version was created digitally using Photoshop. Below you will see the three stages of production, (1) initial plan (2) clean up (3) colour.
The second piece I recreated was in response to a beautiful piece originally done by Pernille Orum (@pernilleorum). I had a go at recreating this piece as I really liked the colours used - also, I really like drawing female characters. Compared to Orum's piece, there is a clear indication that I like to draw my females with more of a personality and strange characteristics, not making them physically attractive but giving them more of a character.
This piece was drawn and coloured traditionally using only pencils.
Both of these pieces along with the artists original artwork can be found through my personal account at: https://www.instagram.com/lidiyar_pickles/?hl=en.
After completing these sketches and limbering up my drawing hand, I then created my Dad's birthday card. It was really difficult knowing I wasn't able to celebrate his birthday with him this year, but as soon as this is all over I am going to spend as much time with him as I can - but for now, daily phone calls will have to do.
I hope you had a happy birthday Dad! I love to the moon and back!
It just goes to show exactly how much I will draw when I'm locked away from the rest of the world...
Please continue to check out my website, as over the coming weeks there will be a lot more artwork uploaded...I have time now!
I hope you're all still keeping yourselves safe and 6ft away from everybody!
