From Ballerina to Illustrator!

I thought I'd start off by introducing myself, I'm Lydia. In my last few months studying at university I have been thinking seriously about my future and the career I would like to pursue.

As a child, I had many ideas of the perfect job role for me, ranging from gardener, farmer, ballerina, painter and my favourite being a comic book artist. I decided that I should follow up doing something in the creative industry as that's where my talents lie - I mean, who's ever heard of a clumsy ballerina with no rhythm?

In my spare time I would create hundreds of characters and stories - producing both short and long comic strips, forcing my family to read the wonderful stories I had conjured up.

Later, after taking Art & Design and Graphic Art at GCSE level, I was looking for the perfect college course for me, primarily I thought I'd have to delve into a Fine Art course to show off my creative skills...but after tirelessly searching, I found it, in the middle pages of a booklet was an advert for an Interactive Media & Animation course - I applied instantly!

During my time on the course I learnt a variety of skills to use in the animation industry, and my love and interest for the subject just grew and grew. A few years after finishing this course, I moved on to apply for a position on the BA Hons Digital Animation course and since then my talents in concept design and digital animation itself have grown dramatically!

Now I know exactly where I want to be, from that little girl who desperately wanted to be a ballerina to now working tirelessly to get into some form of industry job role - I can appreciate what I've been through to get this far and will continue working hard to get even further.
