Since my last post I have been a very busy little bee, attending a variety of talks from industry professionals at the university industry week and spending the rest of my time creating an illustration worthy to enter into the World Illustration Awards.
During industry week I spoke to Character Animator, Michael Morgan. I directed him to my website where he viewed my portfolio of character designs. He gave me great words of encouragement on where my talents could lead me if I keep motivated and carry on working as hard as I am now. We also spoke about my career prospects and my plans on how to get where I'd like to be - it was a wonderful experience to talk to someone with a knowledge within the industry and I look forward to attending more talks with professionals in the future.
A few weeks ago, I was given the encouragement from my course leader to enter the World Illustration Awards 2020, so this week I was finalising my design ready for the deadline on the 18th February.
Sometimes choosing a subject to draw can be a difficult and making it look good can be an even harder task to accomplish. For me, deciding what to draw usually begins with designing a character and building a story around them, I then choose one specific moment in the story that could captivate peoples interests and work from there.
For this particular design I decided to spice up my portfolio and do the initial design traditionally and then go on to colour it digitally - this forced me to work out of my comfort zone...it was a lot of hard work, but definitely worth it!
